Emotions brought to light

When thinking of my personal manifesto It’s hard to think of what I really want to say because there are so many different things I try to say with each and every pieces of my art. Some are joyous, a few are sad, other show the pain in the real world and many can show the joys.

My art is not one topic. I have been trying to justify setting up my channel for a single use and a single project, but I can not claim all of my art is for one topic, or even one purpose. To claim all of my art is uplifting would be a lie. I have been working on two projects recently. The first is what i call hidden beauty. the concept is less about a specific art piece in itself but more of a way of thinking. With photography it is so easy to find the strengths and the light in every pretty thing we see. I find this hard to do. I am a pessimist and see the glass half empty. To try and fight this brink of depression, I decided to take what the world believes to be ugly and discarded and bring beauty back in it. If we can bring beauty and light back into the way we think and feel it can change our lives for the better.

The second project i am working on is similar and ties into the first project. I decided to take the world and blur the lines a little bit. To take away what we see to expose what we feel. I am doing this by color, or lack of, and abstract art.

In conclusion my main goal with my art is to connect the consumer with their individual feelings.

Let’s bring some color into your life

The purpose of this add is to sell colored hair wax.

Once you finish watching the add the end screen is not a black slide but a gray clickable link that will send you to the website where you can buy the product. It also has the option when you pause the video.

The add also has the Zeitgeist principle by showing multiple ethnicities throughout the add. They show three men using the product and then two females followed buy a fast cluster of people. Buy showing three men first it grabs the attention of the male viewers. If they started with a female the men would dismiss it assuming it was another product for females instead of the unisex product that it is.

The ads weakness is the lack of professionalism in the videography. and typography. The video is shot through what looks like a webcam, suggesting that all the actors are bloggers, which could be the fact, but they lack the creative arts side of the product. The product is for dying your hair different colors, it’s a fun and exciting product, but the advertisement itself does not look professional. The typography at the top of the advertisement stating that it is going viral makes the video look like an unprofessional blogger.

Also the fact that they did not record an voice over at all is very disappointing. The music is also a very popular song which would work very well in their benefit if they did not choose a cheep remix.

 

The design of the video was pretty consistent. In every beginner actor did their full head of hair as well as showed the wax on their hands in an outward fashion. It made the video flow much easier from one actor to another.

This ad can be viewed as successful by the number of sales on their main website as well as the likes, comments and shares on the add itself. This advertisement on facebook received 22,000 likes and reactions, 12,000 comments 16,000 share and 9,300,000 views.

Spotify has goals

Spotify has recently created a new social media ad campaign that tells the world how weird their users really are while promoting individual songs. All the posts which were also on billboards included an interesting fact about how many times a specific person played a certain song on a specific day, how many people put a song into an odd playlist, or even weird names for playlist. It also included the name of a specific song and many times an image of the artist who the song belongs to. Here are a few examples.

They keep it relevant to the younger as well as older generation by making the campaign center around new years resolutions which is common in many societies and passes religion and racial restraints.  (zeitgeist principle) but also uses the term goals in a very sarcastic but real way. This is very popular on social media, and is easy to understand (least resistance principle) , especially in the terms of relationships goals, or friendship goals. In other words they made their add an original meme. This comedic approach which reaches past the expectation of their viewers. It was funny and very easy to relate as well as read. (expectations principle). They also made sure none of the posts were offensive or took any racial suggestions. They also used of 70 artists (matt Lee, adherecreative.com) to make sure the posts and bill boards were well designed and used proper imaging and text (presentation principle).

 

Broken Down Beauty

For this photo shoot I took two beautiful models into an abandoned broken down housing complex. I have always had problems seeing the beauty in the world because I have always been looking in the wrong place. I look into the flowers and the rainbows and see something pretty, but that attraction never lasted. However when I see something that the world takes for granted, such as flowering spiky weeds, and I am able to make it beautiful while showing others its beauty, it makes my art more meaningful.

Relationship Statue: Laughing, Loving, Losing

Love brings countless emotions. Emotions that bring on a world of pain and joy throughout the years. For this project I walked in the lives of my fellow college students to see their perspective of love. All of these college students are at a different point in their life. Their lives change as they grow into the molds they want to be; a better student, a better wife, a better parent, or even a better person.

 

Experimentation

For this project I recreated one of my old images. Now this original image is my favorite photograph I have taken. It has been my screen savor for a year and have gotten great critics from my fellow classmates. So why would I want to redo it? With my photography and design skills increased I know I could make a better one. Also I could show all three as a collection. Now looking back at the other two I have taken I decided I will take the original images and re-edit them in a way that they won’t overlap each other as much to show more white space.

First I took the image of the main orange flower and masked out the background. I then blacked it on a black background. I took the main image with a LED light that had a yellow filter. Next I took the individual colored flower images. I used a white flower with a LED flashlight with different colored filters i made from plastic wrap, construction paper and sharpies. I then placed one image over another in photoshop using the lighten screen.

This is the second image I took for the collection. For this one I used the inside of glow sticks on white flowers.  The main images I used a candle light underneath the white flower.

This is the original image. I used the Led flash light with different colored filters. This flower was a lot more puffy than the other images. I took these images from different angles.
